Reflection

“Who are you?
  You are who burns.
  You are who people see.
You are who people never see.”
~ Paul Williams, Remember Your Essence, chapter 2

Vow of celibacy
  A simple agreement
An essential good of childhood’s retained
  A spiritual transition unrealized
Basic innocence sustained
  Rite of passage stayed
    Its foundation in spirit
  Being anything else
Calm occasional sexual union between friends
  Or falling in pure spirit
    From obsession
To devotion at any distance but
Consummation
But once in life to achieve
    Would ever after leave
  The comparisons
Variations
A new desire to recapture old fire
    Never to burn pure
  As before
Past passion
  In present faced
    Instinctive wonder replaced
  Excitements crudely retraced with
Reflection
  All experience who are adult
    Longing awareness that falling hopelessly
Bound in spirit to never climax in joined flesh
Is loving the divine
