Travel

“Perception and understanding have reached their end
  Spirit travels as it will
  Moving according to natural contours
  Revealing free passages
  Guiding the blade through openings
  Following the way things are”
~ Chuang Tzu, Inner Chapters, chapter 3

If I’d been free to drive by now
I wouldn’t be stuck in back of the car
On this Pennsylvania trip
Observing these repetitive miles
Of repetitive crops
I live for and at the destination
But realize a new appreciation for the journey
Its minimalist intensity
As repetition sings to something deep within
I turn to the rolled down window
Open it all the way
Utter along with an everlasting undulating corn field
In matching monotone
“Nnnnnnyyyoooowwwwwwwoooooooooooooiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnng”
I could drone on and on
In meditation
She pretends to not notice
He never says a word
